Advisory Board
Welcome to the Marin Catholic Parent Advisory Board (PAB) for the year of 2012-2013. For those of you unfamiliar with the PAB here is our mission:
“The Marin Catholic Parent Advisory Board mission is to act in an advisory capacity to school administration with respect to the administration’s immediate and near-term goals and objectives. The Board will make recommendations to support, foster and promote a college preparatory Catholic education to benefit the entire school community while upholding the school’s core values of faith, knowledge and service.”
Given this mission, at the beginning of each school year the PAB officers meet with the school principal, Chris Valdez, to establish initiatives that need development and support within the MC community. For the 2012-2013 school year the PAB initiatives will focus on the following:
· Technology: A survey related to the use of iPad at MC;
· Health and Wellness: A project on the development of better communication related to general parenting of high school students;
· Faith and Service: This initiative will work in three major areas this year:
o Exposing our students to the possibilities of returning to their church and giving back to that church community;
o Helping freshman and sophomores fulfill their Christian Service hours via working with People in Need; and
o Reviewing the current list of organizations where students can volunteer to ensure the information is up to date and to add organizations if possible.
Parent Advisory Board members are volunteer parents who bring
with them years of varied experiences, knowledge and a strong commitment to
support Marin Catholic and its mission. The following parents were elected to sit on this year’s board:
