Test Information:
The STS High School Placement Test is a national standardized test much like those taken by students in junior high school. The purpose of the test is to determine how well applicants can perform tasks that can be expected of eighth grade students. The content of the test consists of verbal, reading, language, and mathematics sub-tests. The use of calculators is not allowed for this exam.
The exam will include a short writing sample. Students will be asked to choose one of three writing prompts to respond to and will be allowed twenty minutes to compose an essay. This component of the STS High School Placement Test will be used as supplementary information in the admissions process.
The best preparation for the High School Placement Test is for students to work hard in their 8th grade studies—and to get a good night's sleep! This test is one of several factors we consider in the admissions process, so we encourage students to be relaxed and do the best work they can. The test will include two brief breaks; students are welcome to bring snacks.
Registration:
Register by submitting your completed application by December 6, 2013. There is no need to confirm your reservation once you have submitted your application. If you will not be submitting your application by the priority filing date, please be aware that your application will not, receive first priority in the admissions process.)
Extended Time Test:
Students with documented learning disabilities may qualify for extended time on the test. To qualify for this accommodation you must complete an extended time application form and submit it along with specific documentation by December 6th. Please call the Admissions Director at 464-3811 for more information.
Extended time will only be offered, to those who qualify, on the January 11th test date.
