Senior Ball Information

Senior Ball is Sunday, May 20 from 7pm to Midnight at the Westin St. Francis Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco. The last day to purchase bids and turn in contracts is Wednesday, May 16!

STUDENTS: Please read!

With Prom Season upon us, we want to assure fun for all! Here is a reminder:

Senior PROM DRESS GUIDELINES:

MEN:

Dressier pants, collared shirt, tie, dress shoes (not tennis shoes) clean-shaven

WOMEN: (somewhat more complicated :0 )

NO:
Backless dresses- dresses must be ½ way up the back from the waist

No see through fabric, “holes” in the dress on sides (or anywhere else)

Stretchy, lycra tight dresses, skirts that "move up"

TOO SHORT! TOO TIGHT! TOO LOW!

YES: IF MODEST ENOUGH: (not too short in length nor too low in front)
Halter: If ½ way up the back from the waist

1 strap- (if the other side holds up :0)

Spaghetti straps

Strapless

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
LENGTH: no shorter than 4 inches above the knee in the BACK (primarily) and the front WITH high heels ON

slit must be no higher than where fingertips touch the thigh

"closer to the knee than to the buttocks"

IF DRESS GUIDELINES NOT MET:
Be given accessories to make the outfit appropriate: leggings, scarves, sweaters and be responsible for the payment of such item, if applicable.

STUDENT WILL BE EXPECTED TO COME TO SCHOOL ON SENIOR HOLIDAY (the day after the Senior Ball) if the correction is removed at any point during the event (Juniors and Sophomore girls will have consequences upon return to school)

Safe & Sober Grad Night

For many years, the Marin Catholic parent community has been committed to providing a Safe and Sober Graduation Party for our graduating class.   This year, we are once again planning a fun night for the children where they can celebrate together in a safe and substance free environment for a traditional and memorable evening!   The event begins right after graduation, May 31and will be held in a new location – the Jewish Community Center of San Rafael from 9:30pm until 3:00am the next morning.

This party is staffed and funded by parents and volunteers. A significant part of the success is due to the help of our charitable families and local businesses in the community.   A number of games and activities are planned that require prizes and we are asking you for donations to support the purchase of those prizes.

Please consider helping with this part of the event by donating cash or donating gift certificates for items or businesses that you know teens will enjoy. If you prefer to donate gift certificates, send them to: Susan Monahan, 2200 Lucas Valley Road, San Rafael, CA 94903. Please call 415-472-2101 if you would like to arrange a pick up.   You can also drop donations off at the front desk at school to the attention of the Safe and Sober Grad Night Committee.   Please send any donations by May 2, this will allow us time to purchase any needed prizes in time for the big night of May 31!

Seniors: Timeline to Graduation

The following is a list of some important dates and information for you and your son/daughter to make note of, as the graduation and other activities are fast approaching:

Admission Tickets: Tickets may be picked up by PARENTS ONLY from Mrs. Ewert at the Front Office Reception Desk daily from 7:30am-4pm beginning May 3. Tickets MUST BE PICKED UP by May 30. There is NO WILL CALL available at the Auditorium.

Senior & Parents Dinner: Wednesday, May 16, at 6:00 pm in the Pope John Paul II Student Center. Click here to RSVP for the Dinner. RSVPs are due by May 2. Please note that the cost is per attendee and you must purchase a ticket for your senior as well. (Example: Mr. and Mrs. Smith are attending with their Senior. The RSVP is for 3 attendees at a cost of $29/attendee, for a total of $87.)

Senior Community Day: Thursday, May 17. This event is for seniors only.

Senior Honors Assembly: Friday, May 18 from 10-11:20 a.m. in the Freitas Memorial Gym, on campus. Immediately following the assembly, all seniors and their parents will gather for a reception on the Baseball field (Approx. 11:30 am). This is a liturgy dress day for the entire school.

Senior Ball: Sunday, May 20 at Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, from 7:00 pm until midnight. Students will receive contracts and bid information at an upcoming class meeting. Please carefully review the contract with your student before signing. Guest contracts are required for student guests who do not attend Marin Catholic.

Senior Holiday/No School: Monday, May 21.

Graduation Rehearsals for our seniors are MANDATORY for all (no exceptions) and will last approximately 1-1/2 – 2 hours. Every senior must remain on campus unless given permission by Mr. Valdez, Ms. Pierucci or Mr. Basso. Practices will be held as follows:

Tuesday May 29 12:45 pm Gym 1.5 -2 hours

Wednesday May 30 10:30 am Gym 1.5 - 2 hours

Thursday May 31 2:00 pm Marin Civic Center 2 hours

ALL seniors are required to be present and on time for all rehearsals and must arrange their schedules accordingly. Rehearsals will last about ninety minutes, if all students are on time. Because of the importance of this ceremony, we cannot begin rehearsals until all seniors are present. We will notify parents immediately if their senior is absent from rehearsal. Please know that attendance at all graduation rehearsals is mandatory.

Caps and gowns will be distributed at the rehearsal on Tuesday, May 29. Caps and gowns will not be distributed to any senior who has outstanding detentions, delinquent tuition, library books, bookstore or other fines, athletic equipment/uniforms to return or other responsibilities to be met. Men must be clean-shaven and all students dressed appropriately and modestly at all graduation practices, the Baccalaureate Mass, and the graduation ceremony. We will provide grooming and dressing assistance if necessary.

Baccalaureate Mass: We will have a celebration of the Eucharist in honor of our graduates on Wednesday, May 30 at 7:30 pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley. Graduates should arrive no later than 6:45 pm. Graduates must attend this event, and all parents, family, and friends are most cordially invited. Seniors will be expected to be in appropriate dress for this occasion: slacks, collared shirts and ties, dress shoes for the men, and dresses or dressy slacks (appropriately modest for church) and dress shoes for the women.

Graduation Exercises: We will be conferring diplomas to the Class of 2012 on Thursday, May 31 in the Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium at 7:30 pm. Graduates should arrive by 6:30 pm in cap and gown.

Men: Dress slacks, dress shirts, neckties, dress shoes,

Clean-shaven, hair neatly cut, cap and gown.

Women: Light pastel colored dress & shoes, cap and gown.

(Low-heeled shoes may be preferred, as students will be navigating on stairs/risers.)

Students are permitted to wear their CSF cords, any academic medals they have received, and their Kairos crosses with their graduation gowns. No leis or other embellishments are permitted.

Following the commencement exercises, the graduates will be going directly to Grad Night at the Jewish Community Center. Locker rooms will be available to change into more casual attire. Graduates must be dropped off at the Community Center between 9:30-10:00 pm (parking is not available). No one will be admitted after 10:00 pm. 2012 Graduation Ceremony Available on DVD and Blu-ray

MC parents and graduates will be able to preserve their precious memories of the 2012 graduation ceremony with a professionally taped and edited graduation video. This 2 hour production will include graduates receiving their diplomas, key speakers, awards, musical performances and more. The video is being produced by Digital Video Dimensions of Novato, which also produces the popular MC Fashion Show videos. This year, the MC Graduation Ceremony will be available on DVD for $35 and on high-definition Blu-ray for $50. Prices include sales tax and shipping charges.
