In 2008-09 there will be two morning buses and two afternoon buses. The first morning bus (Route 1) will pick up at the existing San Marin and Alameda del Prado stops only. The second morning bus (Route 2) will pick up at the existing Freitas stop and at a new stop at the Central San Rafael Transit Hub.

In the afternoon there will be an "early" bus which leaves approximately 25 minutes after school dismissal as well as a "late" bus to accommodate students participating in athletics and other after school activities. The "late" bus will leave school at approximately 6 PM during the spring and fall athletic seasons and at approximately 5 PM during the winter athletic season. The exact times of the scheduled pick ups and drop offs have not yet been finalized for 2008-09. A complete 2008-09 schedule will be on this web site by July 15, 2008.

Students will need to specify Route 1 or Route 2 when purchasing AM passes. This is necessary to ensure seat availability for all pass holders. It is expected that passes will be sold for all available morning seats in the morning.

There will be only one type of PM pass and that can be used for either the early afternoon bus or the late afternoon bus. Generally ridership is lower in the afternoon than it is in the morning. Since 2008-09 will be the first year that MCHS offers early and late PM bus service, it is not clear what the actual ridership patterns will be. For this reason, and in order to offer students the flexibility of two options, fewer PM passes will be sold. After school starts MCHS will have a better sense of the numbers of students riding in the afternoons and the average breakdowns between the two times. After more information is available based on actual experience, it may be necessary to review the practice of allowing one PM pass for either bus.

Route times may change slightly after the school year begins based on actual travel times. Students will receive at least three days advance notice of any planned refinements to the bus operations.

Marin Catholic High School has contracted with CYO Transportation to provide bus service between northern Marin and MCHS for each day that school is in session for the 2007-08 school year. There are three bus stops along the Highway 101 corridor near the following exits:

San Marin/Atherton - Alameda del Prado - Freitas Parkway

The exact locations and times for the bus stops are described in the schedule below. Students wishing to ride the bus should purchase a quarter pass or single trip ticket in advance from MCHS. You may purchase these as described in the narrative of the Bus Order Form. Passes will be issued on a "first come, first served" basis. All pass holders are guaranteed an available seat for the applicable quarter. Each single trip ticket is valid for a single ride on a space available basis.

Parents or students, if unfamiliar with the location of a specific bus stop, may wish to check access and parking in advance. Bus stops are in areas that can have heavy commute hour traffic. The bus driver cannot wait for late arrivals. All students must be safely seated prior to departure time. Students running late in the morning should consider trying to catch the bus at the next stop on the route.

Please call 650-757-2110 for updates if the bus is late due to unusual traffic.
CYO Transportation provides the daily bus service under an annual contract with MCHS. MCHS administers the service and sells all passes and tickets. CYO may be contacted for Lost and Found, route information, and other general information.

CYO Transportation Information: 650-757-2110

The bus driver will pick up and drop off students ONLY at the three scheduled bus stops and the school. Parents and students should not try to "flag down" the bus between stops or request drop offs anywhere other than the designated stops. Since this is a safety issue, there will be no exceptions.

Cars should never park or stop in, or immediately adjacent to, the bus stop. The MCHS bus needs room to maneuver - pull in, park close to the curb, and pull out into traffic - safely and without delay. Also, these stops are generally busy Golden Gate Transit stops and use by MCHS could be jeopardized if MC parents or students cause delays for them. Drivers who are dropping off or picking up students should park on the same side of the street as the bus stop for safety reasons. This is particularly important for morning drop offs when students may be in a hurry.
