2021-2022 Athletics

Check back often for important athletic information for the 2021-2022 school year.

We continue to create safe practice and competition guidelines based on rules and best practices developed by the County of Marin, the State of California, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and the Centers For Disease Control (CDC).  Marin Catholic continues to work in partnership with the Archdiocese of San Francisco to ensure the safety of our students, coaches, and community.

  • Academic Requirements to Participate in a Sport

All athletes must have a 2.0 to play sports in high school, however, we expect everyone to succeed beyond the minimum requirement. In fact, each year almost all of our teams earn Distinguished Scholastic Team awards by the North Coast Section and our teams are typically among the highest GPA’s in the North Coast Section, we have some banners to prove it.
  • Athletic Equipment

Coach O’Hearn is in charge of all of the equipment and works with the coaches to make sure you are properly equipped. Please take care of your uniforms, wear them with pride and turn them in cleaned at the end of each season.
  • Athletic Participation Requirements

We expect commitment to Marin Catholic first over any other sport. To that end, we have 2 major requirements:
    • If you have an unexcused absence from a practice or a game, you will be suspended for ½ of your next competition.
    • If you quit a team after the 5-day tryout is complete, you may not participate in another sport until the current sports season has ended, AND you are not able to participate in the first 2 competitions of your next sport (1 if less than 10 games).
  • Athletic Sideline Photos

For safety and convenience reasons, we do not allow anyone that is not part of the press or part of VarsityPix to take photos or videos from the sideline. Varsity Pix has been a partner with us for the past 17 years. They provide us with photos for our website, publications, etc. You can purchase photos from them at
  • Attendance Requirements to Participate in Athletics

You must attend over ½ of your classes to participate in an athletic contest. This means 3 out of the 4 classes that meet each day.
  • Early Dismissal/Missed School Policy

You must talk to your teachers at least 24 hours before you will miss class due to an athletic commitment. You must also tell your teacher before your class starts if you will be leaving before class ends.
  • Grievances

We understand that issues may arise at times. We have a Grievance Policy that is outlined in the Handbook.
  • Join the Boosters and Support MC Athletics!

  • NCS Ejection Policy
