Race 4 Report
On lush green hills in the sun and the wind, Five Springs Farm is a privately owned beautiful area on the east side of Petaluma, and was inaugurated this year as the site of the last regular race of the NorCal season. The race day started with our two sophomore boys Nick Abell and Evan Sabadel.  Both boys rode well: Nick heads into the NorCal finals ranked 47th, and Evan is 36th. They were followed by freshman Dawson Gordon, cruising through the course with his unzipped jersey flying behind him like a cape, who came in 25th and is now ranked 13th. Our two JV riders started the last race of the day at 12:30: Morgan Schmitz came in 16th on this race. Drew Nash had a strong first lap, but unfortunately had mechanical problems on the second lap and was unable to finish the race. Morgan heads into the NorCal finals ranked 12, and Drew is still listed 60th in a field of 86 riders. Freshman Siena McGibben didn’t make this race, and is currently ranked 17th. Only 4 finished riders today ranked the team 26th in Division two standings for the day, and we dropped to 18th for the season overall. Thank you to parents and coaches who made this day both possible and enjoyable. Thanks, also, to MC Mountain Bike Team supporters, Junior Taylor Gumm and his father, and senior Jack Feeney and his parents, for coming to support the team today. It was noticed and appreciated by the team and the families. The next race, NorCal finals, will be in two weeks up at Boggs Mountain. Our riders should be able to do well at this Championship meet, setting them up for the trip to southern California in mid-May for the State championships at Los Olivos. Team members are gearing up and focused  on training hard during these final weeks. Go Cats!
