Softball Wins MCAL, Baseball Finishes 2nd

The Wildcat Softball team earned their first MCAL pennant since 2006, defeating Redwood 6-3.  Baseball fell short in the MCAL Championship, but continues on to NCS.
Another good day for the Wildcats!

Track saw an area champion in Luca Sullivan in the pole vault, second place in the 4x100 relay (lost by a photo finish of .01 seconds), second place finish by frosh Max Glasser in the 400, and 4 qualifying events by Darius-James Peterson. In all, 8 students qualified for the Meet of Champions next week at Cal. The boys finished second overall, earning the first section pennant for men's track in 30 years. Interestingly, Darius' father Frank was a part of the team that also finished second in NCS in 1985.

Softball handed Redwood their second loss of the season (both losses to us) to take the MCAL Championship for the first time since 2006! It was another amazing performance by pitcher Carly Slack, with offensive support from Alison Schultz, Nicole Marino, Dominique Gold, and Tess Polizzotti in the 5-run 5th inning which turned out to be the difference in the 6-3 win. The team expects a high seed as they go into section playoffs next week, with home games at College of Marin.

Baseball took a 2 run lead into the bottom of the 7th, but fell short 4-3, finishing second in the league championship. It was a fun one with Brian Jakimiec pitching and hitting well, an incredible thrown out runner at home from center field by Johnny MacLean, and a triple followed by a rare steal of home by Paul Kunst. The season continues next week as they start NCS where the boys hope for a couple of home games and a return to the NCS Championship.
