Mountain Biking at Fort Ord Recap

Mountain Biking bears the rain at Fort Ord
Race 3: Fort Ord (Moved from Vacaville) Saturday April 9, 2016

A rainy weather forecast moved race three to the well-drained sandy soils of Fort Ord, from what would have been our first time in the more clay-rich soils of Vacaville’s Lagoon Valley. One rider was taking the ACT, and three were out with injuries, so the team community came together for a day on the beautiful Monterey coast to support our remaining two riders. Kyle Hammer started from the back of the 48-rider Freshman Division 2 pack in his two-race lap to finish in the top ten (9th). Go Kyle, we know you can pass more of those guys at the next race
two weeks from now in Petaluma! Evan Sabadell also had a successful race, and both boys - and the rest of us - were treated to the Sabadell’s pulled pork sandwiches. Thank you to the coaches and the parents for another enjoyable day of mountain bike racing. Two weeks more of training - and healing from injuries - will prep our full team of racers for Petaluma on Saturday the 23d, where we expect them to give it their best in their own backyard (and hopefully nobody will get lost driving there!).
