Track at The Woody Wilson Classic

Wayne Patton
Track has a good showing in Davis for the Woody Wilson Classic.
Hello Everyone,

Some of our sprinters headed to UC Davis on Friday afternoon to compete in the Woody Wilson Classic.  They represented MC in a big, big way!  Our boys 4x100 relay team (Glasser, Margulis, Juarez & Peterson) placed 3rd out of 12 schools, only losing by .29 seconds.  They are rounding into form and their best time from last season would have won the meet!  Darius Peterson set a personal best in the long jump, breaking the 21 foot barrier for the first time!  He jumped exactly 21'0"!  Hunter Juarez broke 11 seconds for the 2nd straight meet, but this time with a fully automatic time of 10.96!  This is also a new school record for Hunter!  This time qualifies him for the invitational section of the Sacramento Meet of Champions in a few weeks!  Hunter almost won the race, as he only lost by .02 seconds!  Hunter placed 4th out of 23!  I was sent a few videos from Michael Glasser (Max's dad) and they are of the 100 and 400 meter races from the Woody Wilson Classic.  Please check out the links below.  Darius was in the 100 meters as well and posted a season best of 11.17, placing 7th out of 23.  In the 400 meters, Max Glasser ran a season best of 50.64, only .36 off of his personal best!  After starting the season sick and injured, Max is also rounding into form.  Max placed 5th out of 22 athletes in the 400 meters!  The last event of the day for the Cats was the 200 meters.  Darius was our only competitor in that and ran a season best of 22.94 seconds, moving him up to 1st in the MCAL rankings!  It closed out a pretty amazing day for the Cats!

In the end of the day, the Woody Wilson Classic gave us:

4x100 Relay:  1st in MCALS
100 Meters:  Hunter = 1st in MCALS  (Was in first, but improved his time)
100 Meters:  Darius = 2nd in MCALS (Was in 2nd, but improved his time)
400 Meters:  Max = 1st in MCALS (Was in 1st, but improved his time)
200 Meters:  Darius = 1st in MCALS (Was in 4th place)
Long Jump:  Darius = 1st in MCALS (Was in 2nd Place)

I would say that was a pretty successful trip to UC Davis!

Great job guys and now let's all use this momentum going into our meet against Novato and Drake on Thursday!  GO CATS!  (See links below!)
