MC Students Receive Holy Sacraments

The MC community celebrated the Sacraments of Initiation at Star of the Sea Parish in Sausalito on Saturday, April 29th at a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Cordileone, along with Star of the Sea Pastor Mike Quinn and our Marin Catholic chaplain Monsignor Sheeran.
The Sacraments in our Catholic Church are tangible signs of God’s grace working in our lives. As human beings, we strive for connection with our Divine Creator and the Sacraments allow us to make this human connection as they infuse us with grace and help us build our friendship with God. For the past year, students have been preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation as a desire to grow closer to God and more fully say “yes!” to their belonging to Him. Students belonging to surrounding neighborhood parishes are able to join their youth programs and be confirmed as a parish community. Students who are new to the faith or whose families do not belong to a parish are able to join our Sacraments Program to be baptized, confirmed, and receive the Eucharist. The students in the program meet weekly for a year and attend various education nights, Holy Hours, and a day of reflection to prepare spiritually for these sacraments. Our school community celebrated these Sacraments of Initiation at Star of the Sea Parish in Sausalito on Saturday, April 29th at a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Cordileone along with Star of the Sea Pastor Mike Quinn and our Marin Catholic chaplain Monsignor Sheeran. The Archbishop’s homily reminded us that our duty as Christians is to be joyful messages of the Gospel for we are an Easter people. Our witness to God’s love and mercy draws us closer to Him and invites others to join our journey. We are also called to discern our vocation in life and answer God’s call to be holy people. The students learned that through the vocation of marriage, single life, religious life, or priesthood we are all joined together with the mission of spreading God’s good news of everlasting life. The Mass was a beautiful testament to our school community as Sister Rose and her family provided musical accompaniment, theology teachers read the prayers of the faithful, President Tim Navone recited the First Reading, and many faculty and staff were in attendance. The Mass echoed the theme of the Easter season: Rejoice and be Glad, yours is the Kingdom of God!
