On April 6th and 7th the Performing Arts Department presented their Spring Concert Series: Past, Present, Future. The two-night concert series featured a variety of acts, highlighting music from Traditional Sacred Music to Jazz Fusion. Highlights included a beautiful choral rendition of Oh Happy Day as made famous in the movie Sister Act. In addition the Jazz Band performed the very challenging Snarky Puppy tune Lingus, along with standards like Take The A Train from the Duke Ellington Big Band. Contemporary Music brought the future to their sets by incorporating electronic synthesizers into their original compositions and songs like Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely. The audience was also blown away by the action packed Percussion Ensemble’s contemporary performance of Release The Kraken. The student ensembles are now preparing to record in the music room’s brand new state of the art professional recording studio.
