Reopening Information

The Marin Catholic administration, faculty, and staff have been working hard to reimagine the 2020–2021 school year as we continue to follow the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape. In accordance with local mandates, Marin Catholic will take precautions to keep health and safety the priority for all students, families, faculty and staff while maintaining the spiritual and intellectual formation of students through curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs.

  • Hybrid Mode Suspended for Two Weeks

We have received word from several sources about at least one hosted large party and countless concerns about student sleepovers. And while we assume the vast majority of our families are being careful and respectful of the county guidelines and ordinances, we cannot tolerate behavior outside of school that places our faculty, staff, and students at increased risk of COVID transmission or exposure. With no way of knowing at this point how many students were involved in these breaches of our guidelines, and to err on the side of caution, we will be suspending all in-person learning in the hybrid for two weeks beginning tomorrow, October 19.

Starting on Monday, October 12, the St. JPII Student Center will be open for CATS and for post-CATS study hall. Students looking for a place to Zoom with their teacher for CATS or to simply study in a quiet place before practice can now find a place in the JPII. Students can only attend on their designated cohort day and all students will be required to sign in.

On Thursday, October 1 at 6pm we will be hosting an all community meeting for parents, students, faculty and staff via Zoom. Click here for the Zoom Link at the time of the meeting. The meeting will be recorded and posted but we hope most of you will be able to join live. At the meeting you will be hearing from members of our Leadership Team, all of whom have been working feverishly to create the optimal and safest learning environment given our limiting conditions. The focus of the meeting will be on the preparations we’ve made to the physical plant and the procedures in place to keep all members of our community safe and secure in our hybrid schedule. Our hope is the information provided will give you the same confidence we have about starting school in-person next week.

We developed a Health & Safety Team to help us navigate the Kairos Days Program so we are best prepared on what we need to address when we are able to start school in the hybrid mode. Any health & safety questions and concerns should go to Jamie Waterman who is leading this excellent team.
