Summer school will be virtually the same as it has in the past except for the fact that we will not be meeting face to face. Courses will be instructed through Zoom.
Courses will run as they have in the past, with approximately 2.5 or 5 hours of “work time” per day. That is not to say that you will be on a Zoom session for that amount of time! However, if you are enrolled in a course, you will be expected to do about 2.5 or 5 hours of work on and offline per day.
We are proud to say that over the course of the past few months, MC has become quite adept in online education. We prefer to think of this summer as a blended experience. We are also excited that our master teachers will be paired with 1-3 teaching interns who will help lead small breakout sessions.
Summer school runs from mid-June through mid-July. Dates and time vary depending on the course. Scroll down to the "Courses Offered" section to view the dates and times for each course.
Who should take remedial Algebra 1 and 2 or Geometry?
Anyone who achieved a D+ or below in either or both semesters should plan on making up that semester during summer school.
We are still ramping up but these are the details that we have to date. Much more will be coming in the next week or two. We are very excited and blessed that we can continue to provide this opportunity to you this summer!

Math 9 not only prepares incoming MC students for the demands of Algebra I during their freshman year, but also establishes a solid math foundation for future study in math at MC. This 22 day course reviews key concepts from the 8th grade while also introducing students to high school level math curriculum. Students gain a more solid understanding of key problem solving and study skills that will better prepare them for the 9th grade.
This course is the equivalent of a full semester of high school Algebra I, Semester 1. This course is designed for students who earned a D+ or below in the previous school year in the first semester of work. Successful completion of this course (C- or higher) does not erase a student’s previous Algebra I grade, but it does affect a student’s overall grade point average and qualifies the student to advance in his/her mathematics studies the upcoming school year. Furthermore, this grade will also be reported to colleges as an addendum to the student’s transcript. Depending on the college, this will help ameliorate a grade lower than a C- and possibly allow them to qualify for admission.
Remedial Algebra I, Semester 2
June 25-July 10, 2020 (July 3 is a school holiday) 8:30-2:00 Cost $600
This course is the equivalent of a full semester of high school Algebra I, Semester 2. This course is designed for students who earned a D+ or below in the previous school year in the second semester of work.
