Dress Code

Marin Catholic is committed to providing a safe, respectful environment for its staff and students. MC students are expected to follow our behavior guidelines, based on respect, at all times.

Enrolled families: Please refer to the Resource Board in MC Connect for the official Parent/Student Handbook which includes more detailed dress code information. 
Marin Catholic students are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for school. General appearance should not blatantly or subtly promote unhealthy or negative attitudes, practices or lifestyles. While on campus, students are expected to be neatly groomed, modestly dressed, and boys clean-shaven. Any clothing that is torn, stained, inappropriately patched, or in a state of disrepair is unacceptable. Appropriate shoes must be worn at all times. The Deans of Students will determine whether or not specific clothing and/or jewelry are appropriate for school, and they may make changes to the dress code as necessary throughout the year.

General Dress Code Guidelines:
All clothing must be neat, clean, and free from tears, holes, and patches.
  • All clothing should fit properly without being excessively tight or baggy.  
  • Headcoverings, of any style (including: hats, hoods, bandanas, scarves, beanies, etc.) may not be worn indoors.
  • Hair must fall within the normal range of color. (Acceptable hair length for boys is to the collar and all male students must be clean shaven. Sideburns may not extend past the ear.)  
  • Jewelry may be worn, in moderation. No more than three ear piercings are allowed on each ear. Nose piercings and ear gauges are not permitted.
  • Footwear must be in good condition and appropriate for the classroom. For safety purposes, some classes (i.e. Art, Science, etc.) may require specific types of shoes to be worn. All shoes should be flat. The following shoes are not permitted: crocs, slidders, slippers, Birkenstocks, sandals,  and slip ons.
  • When face masks are required, they must be worn properly covering the mouth and nose at all times. Face masks should be solid color and not displaying logos/words/images.  Buffs are not permitted as a substitute for a face mask.
Daily School Day Attire: 
Outerwear
  • Sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, fleeces, and vests may be worn over the  polo shirt.
Polos
  • MC short or long-sleeved polo shirts must be worn at all times. 
  • DennisUniform  polos are available for purchase in navy, white, and grey.
  • Old Mills polos (with paw prints). Limited to , grey, navy and white. 
Pants: All pants must have a belt loop and zipper.
  • Only Denim jeans, and Khaki-style pants.
Shorts
  • Shorts must have a belt loop and zipper. 
  • Length of shorts may not be shorter than 3 inches above the knee. 
Skirts
  • Length of the skirts may not be shorter than 3 inches above the knee.
  • Must wear shorts underneath.
Shoes
  • Students must have closed toed shoes in good condition. The following shoes are examples of what is not permitted: crocs, slidders, slippers, Birkenstocks, sandals,  and slip ons. 
Note: There are additional dress codes including Liturgy Dress, Spirit Dress Days, Class Color Days and Formal Dress for Dances, etc.
