Where Will You Cast Your Net?
What is Mission Immersion?
In the spirit of “casting out into the deep”, DIA Immersion is an extra-curricular program aimed at providing interested students with an immersive local, national or international trip in one of three categories:
1. Cultural/Educational 2. Spiritual Encounter 3. Christian Service
As an extra-curricular program, these trips are offered outside the school calendar, most frequently during Christmas Break, Easter Break, and Summer Break.
As an extra-curricular program, participation is strongly encouraged but not required. We offer a variety of trips so eligibility will vary. Some trips will be by invitation only, others are open to anyone interested dependent only on space. All trips will require an application that will be reviewed by the trip moderators and the DIA Immersion Director.
Cultural/Educational Whether you are spending a week immersed in the Spanish language and salsa lessons in Madrid, or helping with marine surveys in Bali, you will be sure to return home with a new appreciation for everything you learned and tried, and all of the people you met while traveling. It’s an exciting blend of learning and adventure.
Spiritual
From sacred destinations within the United States and beyond, we will offer unique opportunities for the student to gain a greater understanding of our connectedness when immersed in our faith community.
Christian Service
At Marin Catholic, Christian Service is not something we do, it is who we are. Our work in the service of others, knows no boundaries. Our mission is to gain a greater understanding of our connectedness when immersed in our faith community through fellowship and service.
All DIA Immersion trips require a faculty and/or staff lead so trip proposals are only accepted by current faculty and staff. Students may partner with a faculty or staff member to create a proposal.
What do these trips cost and is there financial aid available?
The cost of the immersion trips vary widely depending on location, flight and housing costs, length of stay, and the costs of any program activities. The details of the cost of participation are published along with the trip description.
In 2023 and 2024, we traveled to Vietnam, Spain, France, Costa Rica, Australia, Ghana, Ecuador, Northern Ireland and England. We visited local Universities and learned the Art of Plein Air Painting. Please Enjoy Our Memories.
