MC Students Participate in Summer Conservation Project in Montana

3 Marin Catholic Students joined 5 students from Marin Academy this summer to work with the American Prairie Reserve and Adventure Scientist in an opportunity to participate in one of the most exciting American conservation projects since the founding of the National Parks.
Students got to spend a few days under the big sky in one of the most wild and remote parts of the United Statess in the northeast region of Montana. During this time, students traversed transects on foot while making observations of bison, prairie dogs, big horn sheep, and other Reserve species. Students learned about noninvasive wildlife tracking, GPS use, camera trapping and wildlife observation. The expedition on the Reserve was an opportunity to pursue adventure in an iconic American landscape using training from Adventure Scientist guides to contribute to the creation of a wildlife reserve on par with Yellowstone or the Serengeti.
