A good contingent from the Wildcat track team represented MC last Saturday at the 26th Annual Viking Classic at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, CA.  The Viking Classic is a huge track meet with over 30 schools competing in it and there are 100's of runners competing in it.  MC represented better than it has in years at the event!
Ian Converse and Will Thompson both ran 5:04 in the 1600 meters to set season bests in that event.  Claire Sebahar set a five second personal best in the mile with a 6:12!  In the girls 400 meter dash open, Julia Redman won the entire event!  She placed 1st out of 40 competitors and ran a 64.76!  This has cemented Julia's role on the 4x400 meter relay team as well! Shannon Farney also PR'd running 68.67, placing her 10th out of 42 athletes!  Shannon earned her spot on the varsity team and is going to compete at MCALS.  Right after Shannon, Jordan Allen stepped on the track in the Varsity level 400 meter dash.  Jordan ran a 63.49 and placed 11th out of 27.  Danielle Chan placed 33rd out of 97 runners in the 100 meters, running in 14.44 seconds.  Danielle moved up to Varsity and got one of the "Wild Card" entries into MCALS! In the boys 400 meter dash open, Patrick Smith ran a 57.01 and placed 21st.  Henry Gardner ran 58.03, placing him 30th out of 94 runners in his first ever 400 meters.  Max Valinoti also broke 60 seconds in the 400 meters, running a 59.83.  Max Valinoti came back fast in the 100 meters, placing 5th out of 83 athletes!  He ran a 12.10 and secured his move up to Varsity.  It was an awesome race!  Right after Valinoti's race, Max Glasser and Darius-James Peterson went at it in the Varsity 100 meters.  Max came out on top in 11.38, with Darius right behind in 11.40.  They placed 5th and 6th out of 40 competitors.  Andrew Colletti ran a great race in the 300 hurdles, running a time of 48.81.  In a rematch from earlier in the day, Peterson and Glasser went at it again in the 200 meters.  Peterson came out on top this time by placing 2nd in a blazing time of 23.13.  Glasser ran 23.38.  Such a great race!  Jordan Allen came back with another strong performance in the 200 meters, running 28.07 and placing 12th out of 46!  Liam Oprendek and Nico Dennis competed in the long jump and had to wait about four hours to make their jumps.  Liam jumped 18'3 placing him 13th out of 42 and Nico jumped 17'5" placing him 22nd out of 42.  Bailey Ash tied for sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 8'0".  Luca Sullivan placed 2nd in the pole vault, vaulting 13'0".  Jack Rodriques also vaulted 13'0", but placed 4th.  Liam Killpack placed 7th!  Nico Dennis also triple jumped 38'3", placing him 13th of 28 athletes!
The Viking Classic is a great day to get our athletes some top notch competition.  Marin Catholic came and represented in a big way with some huge performances.  We were also able to figure out the last few roster spots on our varsity teams.  It was a very long day, but a very productive one at that!  GO CATS!
