MC AP Biology Students Team Up with Dominican University Students

The AP Biology students conducted a second semester independent research project in teams of four with the assistance of a Dominican college science undergraduate or graduate students as their team advisor. Student groups were asked to research a question of interest, conduct a literature review, design and conduct an experiment with multiple trials, and then present their findings to the class with a poster presentation. Students visited the Dominican College Science Laboratories for inspiration in February and met with their advisors a minimum of two times during the project for feedback. Many groups met with their mentors more than twice. Research topics included, “The impact of copper sulfate on the growth of fast grow plants.”, “Can we use meal worms to reduce the waste of styrofoam?”, “What is the effect of aerosols on fast grow plants?” just to name a few.
