Meet Our Head Coaches

   
We are grateful to have these 20 head varsity coaches to lead our student athletes.
   

Dave Albini - Softball

Dave Albini has been coaching softball for more than 20 years.
He coached both of his daughters, Danielle and Amanda through recreational softball and his daughter Danielle through travel and high school softball and has led the Marin Catholic program since 2013. In 2015, he guided the team to its first NCS Championship in school history and its first league title since 1996, earning North Coast Section Coach of the Year honors. With over 200 wins as head coach, Dave emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and fun while preparing players for success both on and off the field.
  

Michael Brady - Mountain Biking

Michael Brady is a lifelong cyclist who competed with the UC Davis cycling team and in triathlons as an adult. He has coached student mountain bikers for more than a decade, including the past four years at Marin Catholic, where he is in his second year as head coach. Michael focuses on helping each rider improve from their own starting point while prioritizing safety, growth, and enjoyment of the sport. Off the trail, he is a longtime Marin Catholic science teacher, beekeeper, and Scouter.
  

Corey Cheng - Tennis

Corey Cheng is in his fourth year as head coach of the Marin Catholic Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams. A Seattle native, he played collegiate tennis at the University of Washington and has coached across all levels, from beginners to nationally ranked juniors. Corey currently serves as the Director of Tennis and Pickleball at Bay Club Ross Valley and brings a wealth of competitive and instructional experience to his teams.
  

Sophie Doyle - Water Polo & Swimming

Sophie Doyle has led Marin Catholic’s Aquatics program for the past 13 years, serving as head coach of both the Water Polo and Swimming & Diving teams. A former Division I water polo player at the University of the Pacific, Sophie has guided her athletes to multiple MCAL and NCS championships. She also coaches with SHAQ Water Polo Club and was honored with the CIF Honor Model Coach Award for her leadership and mentorship. She lives in San Rafael with her husband and two children.
  

Jesse Foppert - Baseball

A Marin native, Jesse Foppert starred at San Rafael High School before playing at the University of San Francisco and later pitching in the major leagues with the San Francisco Giants. He has coached at Marin Catholic since 2012, bringing professional-level knowledge and passion to the program. Jesse is dedicated to developing players both on the field and as young men, continuing to give back to the community where his own baseball journey began.
  

BJ Grill - Men's Lacrosse

BJ Grill, originally from Bridgewater, New Jersey, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Men’s Lacrosse program. A USILA All-American at Marquette University, BJ went on to play professionally for five years in the MLL and PLL before transitioning full-time into coaching. Since moving to the Bay Area, he has become one of the region’s top lacrosse coaches, earning NCS Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2019 and NCS Coach of the Year in 2024. Under his leadership, his teams captured back-to-back NCS Championships in 2024 and 2025 and achieved a #6 ranking on the West Coast. Dedicated and passionate, BJ continues to grow the game by developing athletes who compete with skill, integrity, and teamwork.
  

Patty Hubbard - Field Hockey

Patty Hubbard, a former Division I field hockey player at Providence College, brings decades of athletic and professional experience to Marin Catholic. During her collegiate career, she won two Big East titles and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight. Today, she serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of the Bay Area Host Committee and coaches year-round with Golden Gate Rippers in addition to leading Marin Catholic’s program. Patty lives in Mill Valley with her husband, Chris, and their three children.
  

Lauren Sanchez - Cheer

Lauren Sanchez '16, former Marin Catholic Cheerleading and Dance Team co-captain, is a dancer, choreographer, and San Francisco public relations professional specializing in brand collaborations and celebrity partnerships. She holds both her bachelor's and master's degrees from USC's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, along with a minor in Dance from the USC Kaufman School of Dance. During her time at USC, Lauren trained at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, learned from Emmy-winning choreographers for Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Madonna, appeared as a background dancer in a Kacey Musgraves music video, and was selected for the prestigious Steps on Broadway Summer Intensive in New York City. As a student at Marin Catholic, she earned the USA Cheer Camp Individual Spirit Award, Most Valuable Player Award, and St. Sebastian's Sportsmanship Award. With 14 years of teaching experience through dance programs across Marin County, Lauren has also served as a judge for MC cheerleading tryouts and is excited to return as a coach.
  

Ryann Piry - Cheer

Ryann Piry '16, former Marin Catholic Cheer and Dance Team co-captain, returns to her alma mater as a coach with a deep appreciation for what the program meant to her and a genuine desire to pass that experience on. Now a Labor and Delivery registered nurse, Ryann brings a lifelong passion for athletics, mentorship, and community. During her time at MC, she choreographed halftime routines, earned both the St. Sebastian's Award and Most Valuable Player honor, and trained for over a decade at Rhythms Dance Company — where she regularly assisted in teaching younger students. As a coach, Ryann is committed to building an environment where every athlete feels confident, supported, and proud to represent their school, with a focus on strong team culture and inclusive leadership that helps young people grow not just as athletes, but as people.
  

Nick Honrada - Women's Volleyball

Nick Honrada brings 10 years of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for volleyball. A former Libero at Heritage High School and club player at Sonoma State University, where he earned a degree in Kinesiology in 2018, Nick emphasizes teamwork, self-discipline, and continuous growth in his coaching. Guided by humility and service, he strives to help athletes reach their full potential on and off the court. Certified in USAV, First Aid, and CPR, Nick is dedicated to developing both the physical and mental strength of his players. Outside of volleyball, he enjoys golf, basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
  

Lucas Marroquin - Men's Soccer

Lucas Marroquin is the Men’s Soccer Coach and brings a strong background as both a player and coach to his teams. He began his coaching career with North Coast FC (2018–2020) and has been part of Marin FC since 2019, where he led the Marin FC 08 Red Boys to a State Cup Gold Championship that same year. At Redwood High School, he guided the JV Boys to back-to-back MCAL Championships in 2018 and 2019 before coaching the Varsity Girls team in 2020. As a player, Lucas competed at Santa Rosa Junior College from 2012 to 2014, where he developed his deep understanding of the game and passion for player development. A lifelong Arsenal fan, some of his favorite soccer memories include attending camps with his grandpa growing up. Outside of soccer, Lucas is known as a fantasy football guru and enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for sports both on and off the field.
  

Mike Miller - Golf

Mike Miller has led both the Men’s and Women’s Golf teams at Marin Catholic for the past 12 years. A Carmel High School and Monterey Peninsula College alum, he has decades of coaching and playing experience, including 25 years coaching the Olympic Club Juniors team. A certified First Tee coach, Mike is passionate about mentoring athletes in the sport he has loved since childhood. He has lived in Muir Beach for more than 50 years.
  

Mazi Moayed - Football

Mazi Moayed is one of California’s premier high school football coaches, building a championship program over 16 seasons at MC (2010–present). He holds a 96.7% conference winning percentage, an 84.3% overall record, and has led his teams to 12 consecutive North Coast Section Finals appearances. His teams have won 10+ games in 14 of 16 seasons, capturing 6 NCS titles, 3 NorCal titles, and 2 CIF State Championships. He is also among the fastest coaches in state history to reach 100 wins.
His coaching journey includes impactful stops at Novato High, Berkeley High, College of Marin, San Rafael High School, and Marin Catholic, where he built a nationally respected program centered on discipline and accountability.

Beyond the field, Coach Moayed is known for developing people and creating opportunities. A cancer survivor, he brings a powerful perspective on resilience to his mentorship. He has guided over 100 players to the college level across all divisions and developed Division I talent at every position, including standout quarterbacks. His players include No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Jared Goff and CFL professional Darius James Peterson. His honors include the CIF Model Coach Award, State Coach of the Year, and the 49ers Charlie Wedemeyer Award.
  

Shelby Murphy - STUNT

Shelby Murphy brings a lifelong love of the sport to her role as Head STUNT Coach. A competitive cheerleader from age five, she went on to serve as STUNT Club President at Saint Mary's College of California, where she also worked as an Assistant STUNT Coach — planning practices, reviewing film, and prioritizing athlete safety at every level. A certified USA Cheer High School STUNT Official, Shelby understands the sport from every angle — as an athlete, a referee, and a coach. She holds a B.S. in Business Analytics from Saint Mary's College (Magna Cum Laude, 2023) and uses that same detail-oriented mindset to build training programs that push athletes to grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork. Shelby is passionate about creating a team culture where athletes feel supported, challenged, and proud to compete.
  

Wayne Patton - Cross Country & Track

Wayne Patton has coached Marin Catholic’s track and cross country teams for 15 years, bringing over four decades of experience to the program. A former NCAA Division II National Champion in the 800 meters, Wayne also ran professionally for Reebok, Adidas, and Brooks. At MC, he has guided athletes to state titles and is known for his philosophy of focusing on individual growth to drive team success. Outside of coaching, Wayne serves as the COO and Co-Owner of Body Kinetics Health Clubs in Marin County. Wayne lives in Marin with his wife and three children.
  

Kyle Pult '18 - Men's Volleyball

Kyle Pult returns to hia alma mater as the Boys’ Varsity Head Coach, continuing to make a lasting impact in the local volleyball community. A former standout middle blocker and outside hitter for both AVC and Marin Catholic, he was named MCAL Player of the Year in 2018 and helped lead his team to two league championships. After high school, Kyle attended Ventura College and later earned a degree in Management from the University of San Francisco. His love for the game and success as a player inspire his coaching approach, which emphasizes passion, discipline, and leadership. Kyle strives to create a fun, supportive environment where athletes can take risks, learn from mistakes, and grow both on and off the court. Outside of volleyball, he enjoys video games, movies, staying active, cheering for the San Jose Sharks, and spending time with family and friends.
  

Elizabeth Snearly - Women's Soccer

A former player for the Women’s Semi-Pro Charlotte Lady Eagles, and with over 14 years of coaching and technical leadership experience, Elizabeth has worked with top youth programs including Marin FC, Mill Valley Soccer Club, North Marin United, and Kinder FC. Her impressive playing career began in Kentucky, where she was named Eurosport Player of the Year and earned All-State honors twice. She went on to compete at the collegiate level for the United States Air Force Academy and later the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team for two consecutive years. Elizabeth continued to play at a high level with several semi-pro teams, including North Bay FC Wave and The Storm. A proud mother of four, Elizabeth is passionate about sharing her knowledge, skills, and love for the game with the next generation of Wildcats.
  

David Trahan - Women's Lacrosse

David Trahan has built a lifelong career in lacrosse as a player, coach, and program leader. He co-founded Novato Girls Lacrosse, has been inducted into the Novato Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and has earned honors including NCS Coach of the Year and CIF Coach of the Year. Dave has also contributed to the sport beyond the sidelines, serving as the Girls Director for the NCJLA and as a certified lacrosse referee. Beyond coaching Marin Catholic, he directs Bay Area Elite Lacrosse and continues to grow the sport across the region. David lives in Marin with his family and runs a small business.
  

Kevin Vasquez - Men's Basketball

Kevin Vasquez, a former standout at UC Davis, helped lead his team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance before beginning a 15-year career in youth and high school coaching. Since moving to Larkspur in 2012, he has founded Corte Madera FC, coached dozens of CYO and high school teams, and most recently served as assistant varsity coach at Redwood High School. He brings a deep commitment to player development, culture building, and mentorship to Marin Catholic.
  

Rachel Yarnold - Women's Basketball

Rachel grew up in the East Bay and graduated from San Ramon Valley High School. She went on to attend the University of Rochester, where she played collegiate basketball and earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with minors in Business and Historical Engineering. Since 2011, Rachel has worked in the tech industry as a marketing leader, with roles at companies like Fitbit and 1Password. She specializes in building high-performing teams, streamlining processes, and driving impactful results. Rachel is the Head Coach of the Marin Catholic Women’s Varsity Basketball Team and is excited to contribute to the larger academic community at MC. In her free time, she enjoys walking her dog, Harper, and coaching a travel basketball team based in San Francisco.
