PAWS - Parents Assisting With Sports
At Marin Catholic, the partnership between families, coaches, and administrators is essential to supporting the holistic development of our student-athletes. The PAWS program (Parents Assisting With Sports) formalizes this collaboration for each athletic team. We are deeply grateful for the time, energy, and heart our parent volunteers bring to MC Athletics. Thank you for partnering with us to support our student-athletes!

Program Purpose
The goal of PAWS is to foster clear communication, strengthen community spirit, and provide meaningful support to coaches, student-athletes, and the Marin Catholic Athletic Department. This partnership helps create a positive, mission-aligned experience for every student-athlete while ensuring that both team specific needs and school wide athletic goals are met. Areas of support may include parent education, team hospitality, volunteer coordination, game day operations, and special events.

Parent Involvement
Team success is greatly enhanced by parent volunteers. All parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in PAWS by supporting their student-athlete’s team in various ways, including:
  • Team Parent
  • Providing team meals
  • Staffing the snack shack
  • Collecting gate admission
  • Assisting with gameday operations
  • Driving carpools
PAWS Council
A select group of volunteers will be invited to serve on the PAWS Council, which plays an advisory role to help align team efforts with MC Athletics and the overall mission of Marin Catholic. These are year-long volunteer positions. For questions or to express interest in serving on the PAWS Council, please contact Kim Horan, Athletics Assistant, at khoran@marincatholic.org.

PAWS Council Roles
  • Team Parent Coordinator for All Sports - The Team Parent Coordinator is appointed by the Athletic Department to provide leadership, training, and support to all team parents. This role ensures consistent communication and equitable access to shared resources. The Team Parent Coordinator will chair Team Parent meetings and collaborate closely with the Athletics Assistant throughout the athletic year.

  • Team Parent for Each Individual Sport - The Team Parent serves as a vital liaison between the head coach and the team community, helping ensure smooth communication and coordination throughout the season. This role includes sharing important information with players and families, arranging transportation and carpools for games, and coordinating team meals. The Team Parent also organizes volunteers, helps plan end-of-season celebrations, and oversees special events such as Senior Day—the final home game dedicated to honoring senior players and their families. Through these efforts, the Team Parent fosters organization, connection, and school spirit within the team.
  • Booster Coordinator - The Booster Coordinator partners with Athletics and Advancement to solicit booster membership, distribute booster gifts, and assist team parents in recruiting volunteers for gameday operations.  The coordinator also assists the Athletic Director in coordinating the Athletic Booster and Patrons Crab Feed including recruiting and organizing volunteers for set-up, clean-up, serving, and overall event execution.
