Congratulations to our 2026 Meave Poetry Winners!

Since 2007, the Marin Catholic English Department, in partnership with our generous patron, the Meave family, has invited all students to participate in our annual Meave Poetry Contest.

2026 MEAVE POETRY PROMPT
Every year at Marin Catholic, the English Department invites all students to participate in our Meave Poetry Contest. This year’s prompt explores the way our lives are puzzling—not always straightforward and often inviting investigation, problem solving, and perseverance.

The poem you compose should be an original piece of writing focused on one or more puzzles. The word “puzzle” suggests something difficult to understand, but it also brings to mind games that test our mental strength. Unlike true mysteries (such as the mystery of the Trinity), which can be received, loved, and contemplated but are not small enough for us to fully comprehend, puzzles require an active pursuit, a figuring-out; they can often be rewarded by full understanding with sufficient effort.

Contest winners are celebrated at a poetry reception to be held in April and attended by our benefactor, Dcn. Meave, along with his family, MC students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Student winners will also receive a generous check from the Meave family.
