Michael Pritchard Speaks to Students about Respectful Relationships
As part of the Health & Wellness Program, MC invited motivational speaker Michael Pritchard to interact with students as part of an assembly. Mr. Pritchard emphasized the importance of being a community of considerate, respectful young people in order to prevent and prohibit the ill intentions and sad consequences of bullying. His words remind students to build a strong and kind community that includes and supports those who are struggling in any way and succeeds with compassion.
On Wednesday, September 12, our students participated in an assembly focused on the importance of respectful relationships and anti-bullying. This assembly was offered as part of our Health & Wellness Program. We were delighted to welcome our speaker, Michael Pritchard, whose talents as an inspirational speaker and comedian are recognized locally and nationally.
Mr. Pritchard has a strong connection to MC as a father of two graduates, and as a member of St. Vincent’s in San Rafael, where so many of our families attend Mass. Mr. Pritchard began his career on both the comedy stage and as a juvenile counselor in San Francisco. Mr. Pritchard has been featured on CNN, NBC, CBS, and in Time magazine, People magazine, the HuffPost, and the documentary “Happy”.
Mr. Pritchard addressed the freshmen and sophomore classes at one assembly and the junior and senior classes at another. Mr. Pritchard’s presentation emphasized the importance of compassion, respect, and love of one another. He spoke about the beautiful results of loving and respecting each other and the hurt caused when we bring each other down. He encouraged students to speak to their parents about the stress they experience. At the end of each assembly, students were encouraged to seek theassistance and support of our MCcounselors or other trusted adults if they are ever struggling.
We share this with you so that you can ask your child about their experience at the assembly and engage in some good, follow-up discussion. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership.
