The engine roars to life like my grandpa 
Clearing his throat before dawn breaks
The press of the gas pedal 
The growl comes to life 
Dumping diesel smoke upon the quiet street 
My grandpas knuckles rough as gravel on the wheel 
Taught me everything I know about these beautiful rigs
It runs loud because he is 
Strong and stubborn 
Everytime it starts up it sounds a little more like him
