MC Italian Students Celebrate a Festa!

The Italian festival is a celebration of all things Italian and an opportunity to bring a sense of community to students of Italian.
The Italian festival is a celebration of all things Italian and an opportunity to bring a sense of community to students of Italian. There are several Italian clubs in Marin who donate to the Italian program and those clubs are also invited to attend the festa so that they can meet the students that they are supporting. The festa has a carnival feel; there is face-painting, games, prizes, food, music, bocce ball and a raffle with great prizes. During the festa, there is a slide show with pictures of all of the field trips, hands on projects that we have done during the school year. The event is open also to the families of students of Italian, so there are kids and parents there. This year, I am hoping to have live folk music and performances.

The Festa was an afternoon to celebrate Italian culture, put on by the Italian Club. Students made a variety of Italian dishes to share family style. We were very lucky to have professional accordion player Steve Albini donate his time to play traditional folk music. Several community members brought their unique Italian cars ranging from the classic yellow 1970 FIAT 500 to Alfa Romeo. Even Marin Speed Shop let us borrow several of their brand new Vespas for display. There were games, prizes, face painting and a raffle. It was a family event and students brought their parents and siblings.
