Freshman Class Divides and Conquers Local Service Projects

On Wednesday, October 10, the entire freshman class served across nine different sites in Marin County and San Francisco.
This year’s school theme is, “Love one another as I love you” (John 15:12) and the freshman class portrayed this theme in their love for God’s creation and serving people in need on Wednesday, October 10 as they participated in our first “Freshman Christian Service Day.” The entire class served across nine different sites in Marin County and San Francisco. The nine sites included Homeward Bound Garden in Marin, Hamilton Children’s Center in Novato, San Pedro Elementary School, Venetia Valley Elementary School, Bahia Vista Elementary School, SF Marin Food Bank at both Marin and SF locations, St. Anthony’s Dining Hall in San Francisco, and GLIDE homeless kitchen in San Francisco.

Every student at Marin Catholic graduates with at least 100 hours of Christian Service completed, and we are honored to say that the freshman class has already begun their service journey as they served lunch to the homeless, packed food boxes that will feed 15-20,000 families in Marin, leveled library books for students in need, planted produce that will be future meals for the hungry, organized art projects for preschool students, helped set up new classrooms, visited the elderly, folded clothes for the homeless, and assisted teachers in their curriculum. We are excited to see how our freshman class continues to answer the Gospel call to serve our brothers and sisters in need, for it is when we serve one another that we also serve Christ.
