Boys and Girls Track split with Redwood and Terra Linda in the last regular season meet.
Last Thursday, April 23rd, the Wildcats had their last regular season track meet of the year at Redwood High School.  The teams in attendance were MC, Redwood and TL.

On the Girls Side
:  Janet Miramontes got the day going by winning the 100 hurdles in 18.0 seconds, getting her into the MCAL top 10 in the event!  Next, Jordan Allen ran a great 400 meters in 62.9 seconds, with distance runner turned sprinter, Julia Redman right behind her in 64.2 seconds.  They placed 2nd and 4th respectively.  In the 100 meters, Tiana Anderson ran an awesome time in 12.9 seconds, with Sarah Ihnken right behind her in 13.1 seconds.  Tiana is now ranked 4th in MCALS and Sarah is ranked 7th!  Veronica Boyce set a personal best in the 800 meters, running  2:41, which is a great time for a freshman.  Claire Sebahar also ran a personal best, improving by six seconds down to 2:47.  Our newly formed 4x400 relay team of Jordan Allen, Julia Redman, Veronica Boyce and Carly Ross improved their 4x400 meter time by 13 seconds, dropping it from 4:41 down to 4:28, which is moving them up in the rankings in the league.  Elaine Shaw set a huge PR in the discus throwing 65'6" and Shannon Merrion PR'd throwing 57 feet!  Sarah Ihnken kept up her domination of the long jump, winning yet another one in 15'7"!  Sarah is still number one in the entire MCALs in the long jump!  Bailey Ash did well in the pole vault with a vault of 8'0".  The girls team beat TL, but lost to Redwood to go 1-1 on the day.

On the Boys side
:  The boys 4x100 relay team got it started like they have all season, with a win!  They won by two seconds over TL and Redwood to remain undefeated in the league and retaining their #1 MCAL ranking.  This team of Darius Peterson, Hunter Juarez, Zachary Margulis and Max Glasser are a force to be reckoned with.  Next, was the boys 1600 meters and we had yet another freshman step up, with Ian Converse setting a personal best in 5:05, dropping his time from 5:14!  Speaking of great freshman performances, Max Glasser continued his rise to the top, winning the 400 meters in 52.6 seconds, with fellow teammate Hunter Juarez right behind him in 53.2!  Peter Kent ran another great 800 meters, tying his personal best of 2:10!  In the 200 meters, Max ran a 23.3 seconds and won his third event of the day!  Nader Afrakhan followed behind in 4th place in a time of 24.6.  In the boys 4x400 relay, we had another breakthrough dropping 13 seconds from 3:53 to 3:40 and they are only about two seconds out of 2nd place in the league!  This group of Glasser, Huarez, Buckstaff and Margulis are very entertaining to watch!  Our boys pole vaulters continued their dominating ways as well, going 1-5!  Jack Rodriques, Luca Sullivan, Marcus Narodny, Liam Killipack and Brenden Lenz.  Frankie Bondanza had a big improvement in the discus, throwing 81 feet for the first time and Chantz Russell had a breakthrough as well increasing his distance by 26 feet out to 63 feet!  Darius Peterson came back from winning the 4x100 relay, running great in the 100 meters and placing 2nd in the shot put to win the long jump competition in 19'10".  Nico Dennis had a triple jump of 38 feet, netting him 2nd place on the day!  The MC boys beat TL as well, but fell to Redwood 77-59.  Redwood is a very tough team and MC gave them all they could handle.

JV Boys
:  The JV boys 4x100 relay is about as great as our varsity 4x1, as they have only lost once this year.  In the Redwood meet, they took first place again in a time of 47.1 seconds!  Jack Wight ran a blazing time in the 400 meters, winning it in 56.4 seconds!  This time catapulted him up to the varsity roster for MCALS!  Spencer Petras ran a big PR, running 12.62 in the 100 meters!  His previous best was 13.1!  Nate Gernhard ran another 12.0, with Valinoti right behind him in 12.1.  These two have also moved up to varsity for the MCAL competition in two weeks!  Gernhard, Wight and Gardner went 1-2-3 in the 200 meter dash!  All three of them will be moving on to MCALS and running/jumping at the varsity level!  Henry Gardner won the JV high jump in 5'2".  Spencer Petras earned his spot on the MCAL roster as well, throwing 36' in the JV shot and winning the competition!  This was Spencer's first time throwing the shot put this season.  Erwin Smith closed out the competition with a first place in the triple jump with a jump of 25'2".

This closed the regular season for the Cats, but there is much to come in the next several weeks!  We have had some amazing performances this year and it was great to see several JV athletes move up to Varsity this week!  MCALS will be at Justin Sienna on Thursday, May 14th, with finals on Saturday, May 16th.
