Carmen Eggert '09

Carmen Eggert came to Marin Catholic as an outstanding multi-sport athlete. In her freshman year she earned MVP honors for the women’s freshman basketball team before directing her sports focus to the swimming pool. She went on to amass three more MVP honors in swimming 2008 and water polo in 2007 & 2008.
 
Carmen led the Lady Wildcats to two MCAL Water Polo Championships in 2007 and 2008. Along the way she garnered MCAL All-League selections all four years, including three First Team selections and in 2008 was named MCAL Player of the Year. She was also a two time Prep All-American and All-North Coast Section honoree. In her senior year, Carmen set a school record for goals in a single season at 109, including 13 in a single game. As Carmen’s water polo career excelled at the high school level, she was also selected to the USA Women’s Water Polo Cadet National Team.  She flourished on the national stage earning a spot on the USAWP Youth National Team in 2008 and won a gold medal in the Global Championships in Brisbane, Australia. 
 
After her graduation from Marin Catholic, Carmen accepted a scholarship offer from the University of California, Davis. During her stellar career she garnered 189 total goals, 279 total points, 163 steals and 90 assists and ranks among the program's top 7 in each category, including third in goals and points, and ranks first in minutes played per game in a single season. She was selected as the team’s MVP in 2011 & 2013, earned ACWPC All-America honorable mention in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and three All-Big West Conference awards, with a pair of first-team All-League nods in 2012 and 2013. Carmen also claimed five Big West Conference Player of the Week honors across her final three seasons.
 
After graduating in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Carmen achieved another UC Davis program milestone by becoming the first player in the varsity era to earn a spot with the U.S. Senior National Team, where she trained and competed at the USAWP Olympic Training Facility in Los Alamitos, Ca. In September of 2020, in honor of her exceptional collegiate career, she was inducted into the Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Fame.
